Project at Konsthall C, Hökarängen as part of the Under plattan, ängen! programme. 2006
Display of local, marked boulders (washable paint) and instructions to develop climbing routes around the neighbourhood. Chalks and maps left to indicate locations of some rocks but with suggestions of other places to discover new rocks. Workshops were developed to encouraged the activity.

The neighbourhoods of Stockholm have lots of rocks and boulders.

Many of them are great to climb and clamber about on and some are really easy – good for kids. But it’s no challenge to climb anywhere on the rock so to make it a challenge you can mark (with chalk) exactly where you are allowed to touch the rock and so you can make easy or hard routes. For easy or smaller rocks you might specify “feet only” or to start from sitting. There maybe more than one good route on each rock.

Some rocks may need a little cleaning to make climbing easier.

Here are some local suggestions and there are many to find and create. You can also send in your photos of marked rocks to the gallery or email them to:
